Definition of UGLY.

New Formula 1 Cars with the 2009 specifications.
All new cars are fitted with KERS(Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems) Technology and racing slicks. If you ask me, all these cars looks like there were developed in the 1980's.
Anyway, pictures means a thousand words.

Microsoft Windows 7

I'm a Mac User. Its been almost a full year since I've been exposed to the Mac World.
Everything runs perfectly, never had an antivirus for a YEAR! How often do you say that?
Well this time, I decided to pay a visit back to Redmond and see their latest development on their Microsoft Windows 7.

I've download Windows 7 directly from their Official Website as a beta unit.
All and all, as a beta OS, it is pretty stable, I think very much more stable than the current flop Vista.

Whats amazing with 7 is that it only takes 16 minutes on my MacBook 2.0Ghz and 3GB ram to install completely. Talk about installing Windows Xp or Vista again.
Besides that, you'll be greeted with an entirely new taskbar or what Microsoft calls it as SuperBar. Personally, I feel that if your graphic card doesn't supports Aero graphics, it will still be similar. So the verdict is still the same Microsoft builds an advance OS with powerful GUI but, you still need to upgrade your computer specs, unfortunately.

Leopard & 7 side by side. Vmware Fusion 2

Currently, I'm running my Windows 7 under VMware Fusion 2 and its pretty stable besides the slightly slow startup.(Caused by dual operating system boot, iTunes, Adium, Mozilla Firefox & occasional Adobe PhotoShop CS4). If you are smart. Boot it up stand alone and you'll definately notice the difference from Vista.

My verdict on 7,
1. It will be a revival point for Microsoft after their epic failure Vista.
2. Many Vista user will be glad that they will be able to upgrade to a better operating system and XP users don't have to downgrade to vista but upgrade to 7.
3. Although this is a BETA version, I feel its pretty solid, so far so good no problems, although there was an issue about a missing network adapter at first. But After a few tweaks with the VM and OS, the issue is gone!.
4. Unfortunately, I'm gonna stick with my Mac OS X 10.5.6 still, I just can't seem to go back to the point of updating your virus definition or scanning your hard disk for virus or even having the fear of inserting a thumbdrive/ opening attachment from friends anymore.
Besides that, although my MacBook has a very low power graphic card of only 64Mb, it seems to run the Leopard Interface perfectly. No problems with expose/spaces/or magnification of dock. Lovely.
5. Apple would love to challenge Microsoft with their new Operating System, MacOSX 10.6 "Snow Leopard".
Rumors showed that apple will be ditching their slightly dated Aqua interface for a more modern/sophisticated GUI codename "Marble".(Think of iPhoto/ new iTunes/ new iWork 09)

iTunes New Grid look

Pages 09' New Look

Guess that won't be a bad direction and it isn't all under the hood modification only for Snow Leopard eh? Thank Goodness!
Anyway, Snow Leopard is still in Beta and can be downloaded from any Torrent site easily but any damage or loss isn't my responsibility. So I suggest wait and be amazed by the speed and elegance + sophistication of Snow Leopard.

Lachrymose

Shocked, Stunned, Surprised, Irritated, Annoyed, Pissed, Enraged, Confused & Fucked Up.
That's the feeling I'm going through right now.

Besides that, I've made up my mind to change my Major to Communications & Marketing.
Psychology was fun but isn't my cup of tea.
It obviously too didn't help when I happen to be the one and only guy in the class too.

Anyway, its January 2009 now, many things have been going on like recessions and shits...
So this brings me to the next emo topic which is , I am really disappointed that Machines is going to lower their Pay for the part timers starting from next month onwards
I know I'm not in the position to change anything, but this is my humble thoughts...

1. Why are we still hiring more staffs. I think we are the only tech company hiring, don't you see companies like Western Digital retranching thousands of workers and closing down factories already?

2. Why do we need to open another outlet at Johor Bahru and one more so close to us at 1 Utama. Don't we already have shortage of stocks? Now the HQ have to ship in more stocks to their area too.

3. Yes, if the new staffs are hired for the new outlets I understand, but it still doesn't have to come to the fact it has to lower our pay!

4. I don't think Sunway Pyramid have the issue of shortage of staffs here yet new staffs = less working opportunities for us?

5. Yes, companies need new & fresh staffs for the better future of the company, but who does this at this point of time! We are on the verge of losing money now. We shouldn't be hiring fresh staffs who have little/ none apple knowledge and wasting money/time training them now.

6. I wouldn't be complaining so much if they haven't delay our commission/ salary yet.

7. Why the hell is Midvalley going through a renovation??! Our salaries are getting cut the same time too!

A little emotional now.

Its ALIVE!!!!!

5:52 AM

Reporting Live, from my MacBook, after the bloody updates which took ages to download!

Everything is working in PERFECT condition. Probably even faster? haha

6 Hours of not sleeping is paid off!

I just heard my mom's alarm clock rang. My biological clock is screwed up now.

Good Morning Malaysia, Good Night Ivan.

Issues With my Mac

Just when everything was lovely, some demon came and haunt my Mac.
Apparently, while Farvin & I was trying to crack the iPhone 3G, we were required to replace a file from the Mac OS X 10.5.6.
Long story short.

My Mac start up amazingly quick. BUT! without my trackpad, keyboard, or any usb drives on my Mac.

Annoyingly, the damn file USB driver got corrupted.
So the situation was, how are you suppose to repair a laptop, when you can't move the keyboard or mouse?

I've thought and TRIED millions of solution, and so far.. none seems to work (except for one i'm trying to do now, which is re-installing the update pack)

Lets list down whats the solution shall we?
1. Using my bros MacBook to file share and copy the file from his comp and paste to my comp. (FAIL)
2. CMD OPT P R reset. (FAIL)
3. Insert disc and do a disc utility check up. (FAIL)
4. Remove the recent 2GB Apacer RAM, which I bought. (FAIL)
5. Remove the current hard disk and placed it in the external hard disk case. Use the external hd and connect to brothers comp and copy and paste the file. ( EPIC WASTE OF TIME & FAIL ).
..... too many more to be listed.

So thats the reason why I'm still up at 5.30a.m. and waiting for this bloody download to be up.
You all know that I can't live without my Mac.

This may sound awfully dramatic but during the time when I sent my mac for repair for a week, I fell sick for a week too!

No pictures in this post because I'm running safe mode and updating it. So maybe I'll update it soon enough with the pictures of me working through the wee hours trying to get my mac back into shape.

Owh yeah, did I mention that while trying to resuscitate my MacBook, A big and long piece of rubber dropped off from the hard disk bay. I'm not sure whether this is important.. But its so flimsy because it is held over by glue and also who cares, I'm gonna get my MacBook casing changed soon enough anyway.!!

3 Minutes remaining for the download to be completed. I'm really dizzy!

Penang

I've recently just got back from Penang on a 4 days trip with a bunch of friends.
The main purpose of this trip was just to satisfy my greedy lil tummy of mine. EAT EAT EAT
Unlike most of my friends, I don't actually travel to Penang often and therefore Penang food was something like a delicacy to me. Or you can call me "Jakun".

Moments of Ivan being a Jakun.
1. Travel by bus on a Holiday.

Honestly, I have never sat on a bus for a holiday.

2. Going on a holiday with friends.
Nope, never done that either.
3. Spend a duration of 4 days with pure Mandarin/Cantonese spoken people.
Hey, it was a learning experience. Hahahaha!

4. Saw a walking Manatee (Dugong) on land before.

I don't think that i have ever seen a Manatee before.

5. Sat a ferry

Ferry is fun!
6. Used bus as a main transportation

Most of the time we were sitting this old junk bus. And damn it was hot.

7. Clubbing in Penang.

Notice the song Xiao Wei... Speechless.

This was the weirdest experience ever. Went to a so called famous club in Penang. "momo". Saw a few Guai Low dancing to Mama Mia and a few others hitting up some Penang local girls. Overall the "crowd" on that night was only 20, thats including me.
Next weird thing at the club was actually the Taxi driver that was suppose to send us back was at the club with us. If it wasn't weird enough, he's drinking.
We were all thinking..

Taxi Driver + Drinking = Car Crash/ Big trouble.

We left the club early and yet that dude it still following us. Somehow we manage to loose him from our tail and we ended up buying a few more cans back to our hotel room. party like a rockstar baby! I wasn't really drunk but was just... sleepy... and... full.. keep on burping i think.

Some pictures of the food.

SEGi Leadership Camp

There are plenty of things that i dislike about SEGi College. This doesn't only applies to me, but on a whole, if you noticed, most SEGi-ians aren't really proud of where do they study. Somehow... The GangHo Spirit of it couldn't be compared to those well established Colleges like Taylors University College or Sunway University College.

Anyway, there was something that made me proud and also committed in the college, which was the SEGi Leadership Camp (SLC). I was told by a few peers about SLC being one of the best camp attended and trust me they're right, but nothing can be compared to it as to experiencing it. Most camps I would say that the participants are the reason why it is successful, well this is no different but the few instructors were the differences between these camps too.

Day 1
Arrived at Nusa Dusun at Linggi roughly around 0300 hours.
Nusa Dusun, located somewhere in the middle of the hutan katulistiwa of Melaka, where even you don't get connection for mobile phones.

Coming out from the "airport terminal"

Godzilla.

Rock Climbing activity right on the first day.
Rock climbing was seriously fun, but unlike many other rock climbing facilities in Genting, or so on, this one actually teaches you the technique on how to climb, belay, and also wearing all the equipments and as you made it to the top, you'll notice that the people below are much much smaller and also really really proud because you know that it was your effort and your teams effort rather than some instructor doing everything and supporting you as you climb. Trust me its not as easy as it looks.

After a tired day, even Ronaldo needs a time out to it.

DAY 2
Day 2 involves more physical activities and also uses your mentality to the extreme. Simple fun and easy activities among groups such as "Dragon's Tail" to the Caterpillar and hard thinking games such as how do u stack 16 long nails on top of 1 nails without touching the ground. Took us half and hour and still we couldn't get it. Another one which involves strength, agility, and also team's support was rock climbing blindfold. That was the most awesome experience throughout the camp i think, somehow i did it in less than 4 mins! Spiderman in the making!
Of course with all the rock climbing and all, I suffer a few minor injuries like an inch blister on my palm and also several cuts on my knee, but it was all worth it.

6am in the morning.

More rock climbing.

Day 3
Day 3 was pretty easy, simple activities like balancing your whole team on a huge see saw and also flying fox. Besides that, there were many more activities that too, but I'm just pretty lazy to list them out.

Balancing time!

FLY!

Managed to get the birds eye view on what the camp looks like. Note that this is how high you need to jump.

Ready to jump?

Managed to get a video when I was "flying" but unfortunately, I think the video was cut. It will only show the start and the end of it.... WHY!!! WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! can't believed its messed up.

This was how it looks like from below. Awesomeness.

Well, its hard to say that SLC changed me so far, but it depends on the individual on how they apply the lessons they learned and it definitely makes us, the participants closer to one another like a family. Starting to miss the camp.!
